Creating new tabs in Blogger - Part Three - Seriously?

So I have been away from Blogger for quite a while and this time when I came back, I faced the very same challenge when I first played with Blogger that is: how to add a new "tab". As previously blogged about this (twice), I could not believe how hidden this configuration is. For those who may wonder what I am referring to, for me, tabs are these categories under your blogging site:

Anyway, as I was trying to refer back to my own two posts on Tabs - Part 1 and Tabs - Part 2, I still got lost in the configuration so I have decided to update my knowledge with this Part 3 :). So here we go:

Step 1: Log on to www.blogger.com with your own ID

Step 2: Just as other advices seen on the net, go to Layout. Once you're there, this is where I started to deviate from others. Instead of adding a new gadget as many have explained, I found that I can click on "Pages", option "Edit"

Step 3: When "Edit" is clicked, you get a new window called "Configure Page List". This is where you will see a list of categories / tabs that you have previously configured.

For my exercise, I will show you how I will add a tab called "Motorcycle Stuff". I know it is already shown in my preview since I now have configured it. Let's just pretend to go back in time when I have not created this tab yet and we are going to tackle it together.

As mentioned before, tabs are basically classified as a kind of "label" in Blogger. Labels are almost like hashtags that you would use in Instagram or Twitter.

Anyway, back to the configuration, I will use a label called "Notsofast_motorcycle" for my tab. In the Configure Page List window: Click + Add External Link

You will get a new window to enter the Page title and the external link.

The Page title, I will call it "Motorcycle Stuff".

Step 5: For the Web address (URL), Blogger will  use this URL when the tab is clicked. For the URL composition, I kind of detected by deriving it this way: if you hover over an existing tab, at the bottom of the screen, you will see a URL displayed. Memorize how that link was constructed, then use that pattern for your Web Address

So, for my URL, the pattern is:

Click Save Link. After this you will see it appears in your Configuration

Step 6: now you can click "Preview"

then you can see the tab showing

Step 7: From here on, when you create a new post, make sure you have put a label that corresponds to the tab name that you have added. In my case, any new posts to do with Motorcycling, I will have at least one label named "Notsofast_motorcycle".

That's it...Good luck, thanks for reading.
